Racing at Huntsville, AL

Seth and Dad had their work cut out for them. Going into a doubleheader weekend in Huntsville, Alabama they were at a new track, not like any other they encountered before.

In the batch qualifying, Seth ended up with an 8th starting position, but close times to a bunch of the kids he is traditionally chasing.

Day One:
Saturday's race started poorly. He took a pretty good lick as another car climbed him in the first corner of the first lap. The paramedics came out to check his neck, but all was fine - as long as you don't count the tail cone which was already sad looking from the Poconos. Seth had two line violations, putting him to the back. He still drove it into a 6/7th place finish.

Day Two:

...not how we spell our name...

Sunday's race had him starting a position better (qualifying times were from Saturday, he had some fast, consistent laps it turns out).

He got a series of hits to the rear of the car. One big climb over his tail cone finished that car part off and cost him some positions too. Seth was passing all race long, but with two more line violations and being involved in a spin with the leader - he was booted at three strikes - a totally downer for such awesome passing.

It was great to see Seth demonstrate quality passes in this race, but also heartbreaking to see some (correctible) mistakes that really took him out of contention.

Seth was up to a podium position at one point; a rollercoaster of emotion!

His standings in the Regional Series, Dixie Shootout, are evidence that this is learning year, but he is showing more promise each race.

Lane had his share of fun too... his favorite driver is Kelli...

...and he is a fan of her car as well!

Her Dad captured some cool video of Lane trying Kelli's Lightening McQueen out:
